Laser Welding Robots Help Enterprises Improve Welding Efficiency

Oct 16, 2023

Laser welding robots are mainly divided into swinging robots and laser welding equipment. The main part consists of a robot and a control cabinet (hardware and software). The laser welding equipment consists of a wire feeder, welding power supply, and welding gun.

Intelligent robots should also have sensing systems, such as laser or camera sensors and their control devices. Currently, most of the laser welding robots produced are joint robots, with the vast majority having 6 axes. Among them, axes 1, 2, and 3 can send end tools to different spatial positions, while axes 4, 5, and 6 address different requirements for tool posture.

The upper arm of a parallelogram robot is driven by a pull rod. The pull rod and lower arm form two sides of a parallelogram, hence the name. The early development of parallelogram robots had a relatively small workspace (limited to the front of the robot), making it difficult to work upside down. The current development of a new type of parallelogram robot (parallel robot) has been able to expand the workspace to the top, back, and bottom of the robot, without the stiffness issue of the measurement type robot, thus gaining widespread attention. This structure is not only suitable for lightweight but also for heavy-duty robots. In recent years, most spot welding robots have chosen parallelogram structured robots.

The main advantage of a pendulum (side mounted) structure is the wide range of motion of the upper and lower arms, allowing the robot's workspace to almost reach a sphere. Therefore, this type of robot can work upside down on a rack to save space and facilitate the flow of objects on the ground. However, this type of side mounted robot has a cantilever structure on its 2 and 3 axes, which reduces the stiffness of the robot. It is generally suitable for robots with smaller loads and is used for arc welding, cutting, or spraying.

advantages

The arms and wrists of welding robots are the basic motion parts. Any designed robot arm has three degrees of freedom to ensure that the end of the arm can reach any point within its working range. The three degrees of freedom of the wrist are the rotational motion around the three mutually perpendicular coordinate axes X, Y, and Z in space, commonly referred to as roll, pitch, and yaw motion.

With the development of CNC and robot technology, electronic technology, and computer technology, automatic welding robots have become increasingly mature in technology since their use in production.
Laser welding robots advantages.
1.Improve labor productivity and reduce the requirements for workers' operational skills.
2.At the same time, stabilize and improve the welding quality, and be able to reflect the welding quality in numerical form.
3.Shortened the preparation cycle for product upgrades and reduced corresponding investment costs.
4.Laser welding robots also improves the labor intensity of workers, and robots can work in harmful environments.
